Wise Little Owls LLC is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Aftercare Classroom Assistant to join their team in Washington, DC! Position Information

School Year: 2026–2027

Mandatory paid staff training: Monday, August 24, 2026

Regular Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2:45 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.

First day working with children: Tuesday, August 25, 2026

Position: Aftercare Classroom Assistant

Responsibilities:

Supervise and assist students during aftercare program hours in a safe and structured setting

Facilitating age-appropriate activities and enrichment programs

Help students with homework, reading, and other academic tasks

Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment

Communicate effectively with administrative staff regarding student progress and daily activities

Encourage positive behavior and social development among students

Follow all childcare safety protocols and emergency procedures

Requirements:

Previous experience working with children in a childcare, school, or aftercare setting preferred

Genuine passion for child development and education

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage a classroom and maintain a positive, structured environment

Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player

Must meet DC childcare regulatory requirements, including background check clearance

CPR and First Aid certification is a plus
