Part-Time CPA / Controller (On-Site + Advisory Role)

Compensation: $2,000–$3,000 per month (15–25 hours)

About the Role

We are a growing, operations-driven business in Hurricane, Utah looking for a seasoned CPA or senior accounting professional to serve as a part-time Controller. This is a hands-on, advisory role — not just bookkeeping.

We’re seeking someone who enjoys understanding how a business really works and can align accounting, cash flow, and decision-making.

This role is ideal for a retired or semi-retired CPA, former Controller, or senior accountant looking for meaningful part-time work.

Key Responsibilities

Monthly close and review of books

Oversight of bookkeeping and bill payment (Bill.com)

Prepare and review monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)

Provide cash-flow, margin, and expense guidance

Advise leadership on financial decisions, debt, and inventory

Improve accounting processes and reporting clarity

Coordinate with tax preparer and provide year-round tax planning input

Monthly/Bi-monthly on-site visits at our Hurricane, UT location

Ongoing communication with ownership (not just reports)

Qualifications

Required:

CPA license or 15+ years of senior accounting / controller experience

Strong small-business accounting background

Experience with QuickBooks (Online or Desktop)

Familiarity with Bill.com (or willingness to learn quickly)

Ability to explain financials clearly to non-accountants

Proactive, opinionated, and business-minded

Preferred:

Experience with inventory-based businesses

Experience advising owners on cash flow and debt

Familiarity with Shopify or e-commerce accounting

Not a data-entry bookkeeping position
