    The role of the Food Justice Organizer supports MN350’s mission. This position will

    establish a comprehensive volunteer engagement team to assist in activities,

    communicate effectively, and identify additional volunteer opportunities within the food

    justice team. This position will make a difference in a time when the green economy is

    being threatened.

    Role Responsibilities: Base Building - We build support by partnering with communities

    we serve. Together, we identify issues and empower our volunteer base to take action.

    Develop volunteer leaders for action campaigns across Minnesota. The Food Justice

    Organizer will schedule 1:1 conversations with new volunteers and help them

    understand and acclimate to MN350’s culture, theory of change, strategy, and tactics.

    Work alongside the Executive Director, staff organizers, other volunteers within MN350,

    and the community base to identify impactful campaigns that are aligned with MN350’s

    commitment to climate justice. Help to empower the movement by identifying and

    cultivating leadership competencies within the volunteer base. Team Development - We

    focus on collaboration, communication, and trust to build a united team that drives

    impactful change.

    Train and develop volunteer organizers to build collective power; acknowledge

    accomplishments, big and small, to motivate your team and celebrate wins. Schedule

    and facilitate regular team meetings. Produce agendas and meeting notes to inspire

    confidence and ensure team members have clarity about direction and status. Create

    and facilitate safe spaces where people feel comfortable sharing ideas, vulnerabilities,

    and disagreements. Develop strong, clear communication skills throughout your team.

    Recognize individual strengths and weaknesses to support delegating tasks effectively

    throughout your team. Give opportunities to team members to develop leadership skills.

    Campaign Development and Execution - Develop strategic campaigns that empower

    communities to take action on issues. Through coordinated efforts, we raise awareness,

    build support, and drive positive change. Community Engagement: Seek out

    opportunities to table at community events to recruit and/or educate the community

    about the Food Justice program and MN350 as a whole.

    Identify community needs, MN350 objectives, and develop strategies for both short- and

    long-term goals. Collaborate with coalitions, leadership, and volunteers to build

    campaigns that address climate justice for the community and support MN350’s mission.

    Facilitate or join coalitions that advance MN350’s climate justice efforts. Plan, conduct

    research, and collect data supporting campaign objectives. Use power-mapping and

    other organizing tools to develop effective campaigns. Continuously evaluate program

    effectiveness to build long-term power and prepare for future challenges. Shared

    Responsibilities: Use principles of relational organizing to attract, retain, train, and build

    relationships with volunteers and interns who are part of MN350’s Food Justice Team.

    Facilitate collaborative development of strategies and tactics for campaigns. Help

    ensure campaigns are positioned for success by balancing leadership and support roles.

    Perform other duties as assigned to meet the overall purpose of the position.

    This is a union role that could become a full-time position, depending on available funding.
