About Us My Treehouse Club is a children’s learning academy located in Kaka‘ako, Honolulu. We provide engaging programs that blend movement, language, arts, and culture to inspire children while building confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
We are seeking a Part-Time Japanese Language Teacher who is bilingual, dynamic, and highly experienced in early childhood education. This role is for someone who can bring the Japanese language and culture to life through songs, dances, crafts, cooking activities, and play-based learning — all while understanding the developmental needs of young children.
Position Details
Schedule:
Wednesdays 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Sundays 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Additional paid hours may be available for lesson planning and program preparation once probation is passed
Starting Wage: $18–$25 per hour, depending on experience
Probation Period: 1 month. Final probation task will include passing evaluations in:
Teaching quality and classroom performance
Quality of lesson planning and material preparation
Ability to build positive relationships with members and children
A follow-up discussion may include taking on additional responsibility for preparing class materials remotely, if qualified and deemed reliable

Qualifications & Requirements
Must be bilingual:
Native-level Japanese speaker, able to speak standard Japanese (標準語) clearly and naturally
Native-level English speaker with clear communication skills
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience teaching or working with children ages 0–8 in a classroom, preschool, or language program setting
Strong knowledge of early childhood developmental milestones and ability to create age-appropriate language activities
Proven ability to teach through play, songs, dances, crafts, and cooking activities
Comfortable performing in front of children and parents (leading songs, interactive games, skits, etc.)
Must be fully committed to Wednesday and Sunday shifts — long-term consistency is required for children’s learning
Not suited for applicants seeking short-term work, frequent extended vacations, or limited seasonal availability
Willingness to support the team during special events, workshops, and seasonal programs
Excellent classroom management, communication, and teamwork skills
Organized and detail-oriented, with ability to plan lessons and manage materials
References required (language teaching or early childhood preferred)
Background check required
CPR/First Aid certification required after probation period (must obtain at own expense if not already certified)
Responsibilities
Lead engaging Japanese language classes for children ages 0–8 using songs, games, movement, and interactive activities
Introduce cultural elements such as traditional crafts, cooking, and seasonal celebrations
Create and present lesson plans that support language development through fun, play-based learning
Prepare, set up, and clean up all class activities and materials
Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment
Support team members during special events and community programs
Communicate effectively with parents and collaborate with other teachers and staff
Assist in developing new lessons, workshops, and seasonal programs that promote enrollment and enhance the Japanese language program
Demonstrate consistent attendance, reliability, and long-term dedication to the role
