    Blasser Law is a boutique family law practice based in Claremont, California, serving clients throughout Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties. We handle a wide range of family law matters, including custody, divorce, support, domestic violence restraining orders, and trial litigation. We are currently seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and experienced part-time Legal Assistant to support our growing caseload.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Client Communication

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients with professionalism and empathy

    • Respond to client inquiries and provide timely case updates

    • Schedule and conduct client meetings as needed

    • Assist with drafting client and witness declarations

    Document Preparation

    • Draft, edit, and finalize legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, and correspondence

    • Use California Judicial Council Forms and Clio Draft (formerly Lawyaw)

    • Maintain organized, accurate, and up-to-date case files

    Filing, Mailing, and Service

    • E-file pleadings using court-approved platforms and third-party vendors

    • Print and mail documents (e.g., written discovery responses, letters)

    • Coordinate service of process for pleadings and subpoenas

    Trial Preparation

    • Prepare and print exhibits, assemble trial binders

    • Build electronic trial binders for use in TrialPad

    • Confirm client and witness attendance at hearings and trials

    Scheduling & Calendar Management

    • Manage attorney’s calendar: court dates, deadlines, client appointments, and meetings

    • Coordinate with court staff, opposing counsel, and clients

    • Set reminders and follow up on all case-related deadlines

    Legal Research

    • Conduct legal research to support case preparation and trial strategy

    • Summarize case law and provide relevant legal authorities to the attorney

    • Stay current with changes in relevant laws and procedures

    Clio Legal Management Software

    • Use Clio to organize cases, track time, manage tasks, and generate invoices

    • Maintain accurate records of client communications and billing

    • Ensure all activities are logged and categorized appropriately

    Court Clerk Coordination

    • File documents and secure court orders by liaising with clerks

    • Confirm hearings and procedural details

    • Troubleshoot any issues with filings or orders promptly

    Communication with Opposing Counsel

    • Coordinate meetings and handle correspondence

    • Track and manage document exchanges

    • Maintain a professional and cordial tone in all written communication

    Inbox & Email Management

    • Monitor the attorney’s email inbox to ensure timely responses

    • Flag critical emails and respond to routine messages

    • Keep correspondence organized and categorized

    Remote Work Expectations

    • Be able to work independently and efficiently from a remote location

    • Maintain a reliable and professional home office setup

    • Communicate proactively and meet all assigned deadlines

    Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    • Prior experience in family law (preferred)

    • Strong understanding of California legal procedures and Judicial Council forms

    • Proficiency with Clio (Manage and Draft), Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, and Google Workspace

    • Excellent writing and proofreading skills

    • Strong organizational and multitasking ability

    • High degree of professionalism and discretion

    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines

    • Experience working remotely and using cloud-based tools

    Schedule & Compensation:

    • Hours: 20–30 hours/week, flexible schedule

    • Location: Remote (preference for candidates located in California)

    • Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on experience
