    Medical Office Assistant (Part-Time)

    Location: UBMD Primary Care – 2465 Sheridan Drive, Tonawanda, NY 14150

    Schedule: Tuesdays & Fridays, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM Must be able to hold this schedule consistently

    Pay Range: $18.00–$19.50/hour

    Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt AA/EOE

    About the Role:

    UBMD Primary Care is seeking a skilled and patient‑focused Medical Assistant (MA) to support clinical operations at our Tonawanda outpatient clinic. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on patient care, works well in a fast‑paced environment, and brings strong communication and organizational skills to every interaction.

    What You’ll Do

    In this role, you’ll use your clinical, technical, and interpersonal skills to support providers and ensure a smooth patient experience. Responsibilities include:

    Clinical & Patient Care Skills:

    • Rooming patients efficiently and preparing them for exams
    • Performing clinical intake, including vitals (BP, pulse, temperature, height/weight, respiration)
    • Documenting patient history and observations in the EMR
    • Assisting with provider orders and patient call‑backs under RN/APP/physician direction
    • Supporting annual well visits and routine clinical workflows
    • Collecting and processing specimens
    • Performing point‑of‑care testing (e.g., EKGs, urine dip, glucometer, peak flow), depending on clinic needs

    Operational & Support Skills:

    • Maintaining clean, organized exam rooms and monitoring supply inventory
    • Managing daily clinical tasks and follow‑ups
    • Ensuring compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection‑control standards
    • Assisting with administrative tasks as needed (scheduling, scanning, referrals, copays, updating demographics)
    • Providing patient education and directing patients to appropriate resources

    • EMR proficiency
    • Vital signs and clinical intake
    • Specimen collection
    • Point‑of‑care testing
    • Basic office technology (faxing, scanning, copying)

    Qualifications

    • MA/MOA certificate or degree preferred OR 2+ years of hands‑on experience as an MA/MOA in lieu of certification
    • 2–3 years of experience in an outpatient clinic setting preferred
    • Experience with EKGs, pulmonology, or endocrinology POC testing is a plus
    • Strong communication, customer service, and multitasking skills required
    • EMR experience required

    Work Environment

    • Fast‑paced, well‑lit outpatient clinic
    • Frequent standing, walking, and patient interaction
    • Light lifting up to 15 lbs
    • Regular, predictable attendance required
    • May occasionally travel to other UBMD Primary Care locations
