    Position Summary

    We are seeking a skilled and dependable Part-Time Medical Laboratory Technician to join our healthcare team. The technician will assist in processing and analyzing patient specimens, performing routine laboratory tests, and supporting accurate diagnostic results. This role requires strict adherence to safety and quality standards, precision in handling samples, and effective communication with clinical staff.

    Key Responsibilities

    Specimen Collection & Processing

    Receive, label, and log patient specimens (blood, urine, cultures, etc.).

    Prepare and process samples according to standardized procedures.

    Ensure proper specimen storage, handling, and chain of custody.

    Testing & Analysis

    Perform routine hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, and immunology tests as assigned.

    Operate laboratory instruments (centrifuges, analyzers, microscopes, etc.).

    Record, interpret, and verify results for accuracy.

    Quality Assurance & Compliance

    Follow CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations at all times.

    Participate in quality control testing and equipment calibration.

    Report abnormal test findings, discrepancies, or equipment issues promptly to the supervising technologist or pathologist.

    Documentation & Reporting

    Maintain accurate records in the laboratory information system (LIS).

    Ensure timely communication of test results to clinical providers.

    Assist in preparing reports and maintaining compliance documentation.

    General Laboratory Duties

    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

    Monitor and restock laboratory supplies.

    Assist senior staff with specialized procedures as needed.

    Qualifications

    Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or related field (Bachelor’s in Medical Laboratory Science preferred).

    Current certification or eligibility as an MLT/MLS (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.

    Previous clinical laboratory experience strongly preferred.

    Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to patient safety.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
