Welcome to Newark Day Nursery and Children's Center! We are a nonprofit childcare center dedicated to providing the highest quality early childhood and school-age services to educate, enrich and inspire children and youth from culturally and economically diverse families.
We are looking for part-time teachers to care for and educate children in our youngest classrooms (ages 6 weeks - 5 years). This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to provide a loving, nurturing, and safe environment for little minds to learn and grow. As a part-time teacher, you will be tasked with implementing age-appropriate activities to support their development.
Working hours: Monday-Friday 1:30-5:30pm
Your job responsibilities and duties will also include, but are not limited to:
Providing a warm, safe, and caring atmosphere that fosters children’s self-confidence and independence
Communicating with parents and guardians about children’s activities, behavior, and developmental milestones
Responding appropriately to the needs of toddlers with patience and kindness
Providing a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play
Organizing and leading activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling
Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed, such as wiping down surfaces and disinfecting toys
Assisting with potty training and changing diapers, as needed
As a part-time teacher, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:
DEEDS qualification, or willing to obtain within the 30 days of hire
CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire
Skills in caregiving and general childcare practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
Previous experience working with children is a plus!
