    Part-time Afterschool Program Support Staff

Do you enjoy working with children and being a steady, positive presence in their day? Are you patient, energetic, and comfortable helping kids navigate emotions and behavior in a structured environment? If you’re someone who shows up consistently, builds trust easily, and wants to make a meaningful impact after the school day ends, this could be a great fit.

An established community-based organization is seeking an Afterschool Program Support Staff member to support an elementary-age afterschool program located within a local primary school. This role pays $19.00 per hour and runs Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, for the remainder of the school year (through June, excluding school breaks).

This role is less about formal teaching and more about being the right presence — someone who can help maintain a calm, positive environment, support children emotionally, and manage behavior without escalation. The program serves approximately 25 students, with activities and programming developed by an on-site coordinator.

This is an in-person, on-site position in the Buffalo area.

    • Support the on-site coordinator with program flow and student engagement
    • Serve as a dependable, steady presence for students each afternoon
    • Communicate professionally with program leadership as needed

    Qualifications

    • Completion of at least 1–2 college courses in Early Childhood Education (required)
    • Experience or coursework related to behavioral health, psychology, social work, counseling, or similar fields strongly preferred
    • Comfortable working with elementary-age children in an afterschool setting
    • Patient, calm, and emotionally steady — able to de-escalate behavior when needed
    • High energy, creative, and genuinely enjoys working with children
    • Able to commit through the end of the school year (June, excluding breaks)
