About the Role
We are looking for a part-time Healthcare Marketing Specialist with a background in Medical Nutrition Therapy to build and maintain referral relationships with physician offices, clinics, and healthcare providers in the Nashville area. This is an outreach-focused role. You will not be providing clinical services. Instead, you will be the face of our dietitian practice, connecting with offices in person and by phone to grow our patient referral pipeline. A core part of this role is communicating how nutrition therapy works, what our process looks like, and how partnering with us leads to better patient outcomes while making life easier for the referring provider.
The ideal candidate understands MNT from the clinical side and can speak the language of providers and office staff. You know what a referral workflow looks like, you understand insurance reimbursement basics, and you can walk into a doctor's office and have a credible conversation about nutrition therapy, lab values like A1C and cholesterol panels, and evidence-based approaches including intuitive eating. You should be able to clearly articulate how our dietitians improve outcomes for the physician's patients and how we simplify the referral and follow-up process so the doctor's office does not have to carry that burden.
What You'll Do
- Identify and visit physician offices, primary care clinics, endocrinology practices, and other referral sources in the Nashville metro area
- Make outbound calls to schedule introductory meetings and follow up on existing relationships
- Educate office staff and providers on our nutrition therapy process, how we work with patients, and how our services improve clinical outcomes while reducing the burden on the referring practice
- Distribute marketing materials, referral packets, and provider information sheets
- Track all outreach activities, office visits, calls, and referral sources in our CRM system (provided), keeping records current and accurate
- Provide feedback on what you are hearing from offices to help us refine our messaging and service offerings
- Attend local healthcare networking events when relevant opportunities arise
What We're Looking For
Required
- Clinical background in Medical Nutrition Therapy (RDN, DTR, or equivalent experience working in an MNT setting) with familiarity in evidence-based approaches including intuitive eating
- Familiarity with MNT referral processes, CPT codes, and insurance reimbursement for nutrition services
- Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and lab values relevant to nutrition therapy, including A1C, cholesterol panels, metabolic panels, and common diagnostic procedures
- Ability to clearly communicate the nutrition therapy process to physicians and office staff, including how we work with patients, what outcomes to expect, and how we make the referral process seamless for the practice
- Comfortable with in-person visits to medical offices and cold/warm calling
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional, approachable presence
- Reliable transportation for local travel across the Nashville area
- Self-motivated and able to manage your own schedule within 10 hours per week
- Comfortable using CRM software and digital tools for activity logging and reporting (CRM will be provided)
Preferred
- Existing relationships with healthcare providers or office managers in the Nashville area
- Experience in healthcare sales, pharma rep work, or medical practice marketing
Compensation & Details
How Success Is Measured
This role is accountable to clear, measurable outcomes. You will use our CRM to log all activity, and performance will be evaluated across three areas:
- Activity: Number of office visits, calls made, and new provider contacts added per week
- Pipeline: Offices engaged, follow-up meetings scheduled, and practices that agree to refer patients
- Referrals: New patient referrals generated by source, tracked monthly, with a focus on growing referral volume over time
During the first 90 days, the focus will be on building activity and pipeline. After that initial ramp-up period, performance will shift toward referral volume and conversion. Specific targets will be discussed during the hiring process.
Compensation & Details
- Pay: $30 per hour
- Hours: 10 hours per week, flexible scheduling
- Location: Nashville, TN metro area (field-based with some remote coordination)
- Type: Part-time, contract/1099
Why This Role
This is a great fit for a registered dietitian or nutrition professional who wants flexible part-time work outside of direct patient care. You will use your clinical knowledge in a new way, building the relationships that connect patients to the nutrition support they need. If you enjoy meeting people, building professional relationships, and working independently, we would love to hear from you.
