Part time Maintenance and Grounds Personnel
Position Summary
The Part-Time Seasonal Grounds and Maintenance Employee is responsible for assisting with the overall upkeep, cleanliness, and appearance of Housing Authority properties and grounds. This position performs a variety of exterior landscaping and interior custodial duties to help maintain safe, clean, and attractive living environments for residents, staff, and visitors. The employee may also be required to assist with simple maintenance-related work orders within occupied and vacant residential units.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Grounds Maintenance
Cut and maintain lawns and grassy areas.
Perform weeding, edging, and pruning of shrubs and landscaping.
Pick up exterior trash and debris throughout Housing Authority properties.
Maintain walkways, entrances, parking areas, and common outdoor spaces.
Assist with seasonal grounds preparation and cleanup as needed.
Building and Interior Maintenance
Clean and maintain all communal/common areas within residential buildings.
Perform dry mopping, sweeping, mopping, and floor buffing/burnishing.
Conduct high dusting and general cleaning of common spaces.
Clean offices, hallways, stairwells, laundry rooms, and other shared areas.
Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or property damage to supervisors.
Basic Maintenance Duties
Assist with simple maintenance-related work orders in occupied and vacant units.
Perform minor repairs and basic upkeep tasks as assigned.
Assist maintenance staff with routine property maintenance duties.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior groundskeeping, janitorial, custodial, or maintenance experience preferred.
Ability to safely operate basic grounds and cleaning equipment.
Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
Reliable attendance and punctuality required.
Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to use cleaning chemicals and maintenance equipment safely.
Working Conditions
This is a seasonal, part-time position that requires both indoor and outdoor work. Work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, cleaning agents, dust, noise, and landscaping equipment.
