Position: Parts Advisor Department: Service Reports To: Parts Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary
The Parts Advisor is responsible for the identification, sourcing, and provision of automotive parts and accessories in support of service department operations and external customer needs. This position requires direct interaction with customers, service personnel, and vendors to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of required components. The parts advisor will maintain inventory accuracy, process sales transactions, and uphold company policies and customer service standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist internal and external customers in identifying appropriate parts and accessories based on technical specifications and product knowledge.
· Accurately process customer orders, including sales transactions, payments, returns, and warranty claims, in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
· Monitor, manage, and maintain parts inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock for retail and service operations.
· Collaborate with service technicians to ensure timely fulfillment of parts requests in support of repair and maintenance activities.
· Maintain orderly, safe, and clean parts storage areas and ensure proper labeling and organization of inventory.
· Utilize inventory and point-of-sale systems to document transactions, track inventory, and generate reports as needed.
· Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED (required)
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field (preferred)
· Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a customer service, parts, or technical support role within an automotive or similar environment
· Familiarity with manufacturer service protocols and warranty claim procedures
Skills:
· Working knowledge of automotive systems, components, and related repair processes
· Strong customer service and sales orientation
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
· Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and order fulfillment
Work Environment:
· Must be able to lift and/or move parts weighing up to fifty (50) pounds on a regular basis
· Required to stand, walk throughout the workday
· Exposure to moderate to high noise levels and variable environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust.
FLSA Status Classification:
This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek. The employee is entitled to meal and rest breaks in accordance with applicable state and federal labor laws.
