Omaha Track Equipment is Hiring a Full-Time Parts Counter Associate to join our team in Kansas City, MO.
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and excited for an opportunity to grow their career.
The Parts Counter Associate is responsible for identifying, locating, pulling, and requesting parts & supplies needed for upcoming builds and current builds; specializing in hi-rail truck, cranes, and other products related to the railroad industry.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Maintain excellent technician relations
- Pickup and deliver parts as needed using provided company vehicle.
- Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in warehouse and storage yard
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouse, parts area and floor stock
- Receive & count items, and record data for inventory control- manually or computerized
- Mark stock items, using identification tags, or other labeling equipment.
- Practice proper housekeeping with clean, maintained work area, tools, and equipment & shop areas
- Maintain compliance with all safety requirements, policies, and procedures
- Complete and maintain all required safety training and certifications
- Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as packing lists, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
- Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or record-keeping purposes
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strong mathematical skills
- Parts or mechanical background preferred with at least 2 years of relevant work history
- Computer literacy with Word, Excel, and Email
- Forklift certified or able to be forklift certified
- Able to identify hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical system components
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks per day effectively
- Valid driver’s license & a MVR that allows coverage under Omaha Track fleet insurance
- Dependable and consistent attendance/punctuality
- Must work well with others on a team, while still being able to complete tasks independently
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and write
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Organizational skills
Work Requirements:
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Ability to plan ahead, needed for future assembly
- Ability to pay strict attention to detail
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure & micrometer and apply them to the job being performed
- Complete Special Projects when needed
- Work overtime when needed
- Ability to regularly lift/carry 50lbs; team lift/carry up to 100lbs
- Ability to meet all functional requirements including, but not limited to: sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, bending, squatting, finger dexterity, and reaching above/below shoulders
