We are seeking Pashto (also spelled Pushtu) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support USCIS. Pashto is a critical-need language for asylum, refugee, and immigration cases, making this role essential for contract success.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Pashto ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
Interpret accurately and impartially across legal, immigration, and administrative contexts.
Adhere to USCIS/DHS confidentiality and compliance standards.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent requests.
Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA audits.
Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Pashto (Pushtu) and English.
2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, medical, or government preferred).
Knowledge of interpreter ethics and standards (NCIHC, ATA, RID).
Strong communication and cultural competency skills.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 security clearance.
