OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:
Our Advocacy Supervisors are from diverse backgrounds and are the key professional support for our volunteer advocates. Our staff has worked as law guardians, prosecutors, child welfare workers, as teachers, in law firms, in customer service, in healthcare, in volunteer management, and in a wide range of social service positions. All advocacy supervisors bring a deep passion for the children we serve and the volunteers that support them.
Despite this diversity, Advocacy Supervisors share common characteristics: they are highly intelligent and professional, perceptive about human behavior, hungry for knowledge, comfortable in the courtroom and a non-profit work environment, and tireless and strategic in their advocacy efforts. Their time is spent interacting with our volunteers and with professionals in the child welfare community, editing and revising reports to the court, and of course, dealing with an array of administrative tasks in a professional and confidential manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate for our open position shares these characteristics has a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s or JD degree preferred) AND AT LEAST TWO YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE WORKING DIRECTLY WITH CHILD WELFARE AND/OR FAMILY COURT, PREFERABLY IN NEW JERSEY. Candidates must have excellent computer skills, writing skills, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate also has a background in volunteerism. This is a full-time, exempt, 40+ hours per week position with some night and weekend hours required. Flexibility is key to successful employment at CASA which leads to a healthy work-life balance. . Fluency in Spanish is required.

The Bilingual Advocacy Case Supervisor manages CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers in the family court and child welfare systems with the goal of ensuring that abused and neglected children in the foster care system receive effective advocacy and permanency planning. The Bilingual Advocacy Case Supervisor is responsible for volunteer supervision and coordination of cases who have children or family more comfortable communicating in Spanish. A successful candidate must have fluent professional Spanish and English language ability in both oral and written capacity. Additionally, the Advocacy Case Supervisor will assist the Outreach Coordinator and training team with recruitment, screening, and training of bilingual community volunteers as needed.

The Bilingual Advocacy Case Supervisor will work with a team of up to 30 volunteers and their cases to deliver high-quality court-appointed advocacy services to children in foster care. The successful applicant for this position will be experienced in the family court and/or child welfare system. The candidate will be highly detail-oriented, tech saavy, and able to think quickly on their feet.
The position requires attending regular court hearings, accompanying volunteers on home visits as needed, and supporting volunteers with regular office hours. The candidate should be comfortable and confident in the courtroom to advocate for each appointed child as well as the organization as a whole. Regular, detailed case documentation is required to maintain compliance with standards. The Advocacy Case Coordinator is the point of contact for all child welfare stakeholders and the main support for the volunteer advocate. Successful candidates must be flexible to attend occasional evening and weekend trainings and organizational events.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: 4-year degree, Masters/J.D. Preferred
