INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER/MECHANICAL ENGINEER ENTRY LEVEL INTERN

We are a disruptive autonomous building control startup company, developing the next generation automation technology for the future of smart cities, intelligent buildings, and green buildings. We have an entry level position for an industrial designer or manufacturing engineer that offers the opportunity to be a meaningful part of a team, develop products, manage a design language, and solve real-world design and usability problems.

This is an internship position, with the potential for an on-going follow-on position for the right candidate. Opportunity for involvement is only limited by your enthusiasm.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Designing plastic, metal & electronic product in 3D modeling software, 3D printing, prototyping, refining the design language, working with suppliers and prepping prototypes
• Additional duties may include evaluating manufacturing methods and working with electronics

YOU MUST HAVE

• At least Senior in university program
• Strong 3D CAD experience (Autodesk inventor, Solidworks, etc)
• Experience prototyping and building product models
• Attention to detail and good communications skills
• Interest in human centered design, sustainability, energy impact, or green building
• Must be diligent and get work done… but we do respect powder days

YOU SHOULD HAVE

• Experience with rapid prototyping like 3D printing, molding, and casting
• Ability to develop, follow, and apply a consistent design language
• Understanding of manufacturing methods
• Skills in prototype finish work prep, painting, dyeing, etc

IT'S HELPFUL TO HAVE

• Familiarity with electronics and electronic design
• Familiarity with 3D rendering (Keyshot, etc)
• Understanding of mechanical engineering concept and properties of materials
