Pactiv Evergreen is seeking a self-motivated, solutions oriented Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to join the Maintenance Department at our manufacturing facility in Athens, GA. Mechanics are a vital part of the asset care strategy of the Athens, GA facility. Mechanics provide preventative, reactive, and trouble shooting skills on manufacturing, facility, and support equipment. Mechanics are a vital member of the maintenance delivery process that includes skilled electricians, maintenance planner, and part room clerk.Qualified candidates must have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience and have the demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment & components with minimum supervision or assistance.

Note - All maintenance mechanics must pass a Ramsey and Mechanical Aptitude test. Upon completion, they will receive an additional .75/hr.
Complieswith facility safety requirements by adhering to proper PPE rules by wearing hairnets, ear plugs, gloves, aprons, safety glasses, steel toed safety shoes and any other items required for working safely on the job.
Inspects defective equipment and diagnoses malfunctions, using testing instruments manuals and similar guides using tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, too precision measuring instruments.
Disassemblesdefective or to perform preventive maintenance of equipment. Process is reversed oncerepair/reconditioning is complete. Mayalso involve facility maintenance.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machinescontinue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or do notdeteriorate.
Reconditionsand replaces parts, bearing, gears, etc.Installs special functional and structural parts as well. This may include facility maintenance(minor carpentry/basic work). Alsoinspects, operates, and/or tests machinery or equipment to diagnose machinemalfunctions.
Changeoil, lubricants, batteries, checks compressors, power supplies, and conveyors of machinery and equipment, as well as, determines mechanical problems anddetermines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or partscatalogs, as necessary.
Inspectsand verifies dimensions and clearances of parts, conveyors, and miscellaneous housing ensuring conformance to factory specifications. Assembles, installs, or pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
May weldand cut parts using mig/arc welding and cutting equipment. Inspect manual drives and belts, checkfluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
Adjustfunctional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
Generalhousekeeping of maintenance area, which may also include general upkeep of tools and equipment used for repair work including, cleaning or lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
Install,diagnose, and monitor various production lines/press equipment. Install equipment to facilitate production,as well as repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.

Minimum High School diploma/GED
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance.
MUST be able to pass Ramsay Assessment (testing knowledge of mechanical (60 questions) and electrical (60 questions)skills.
Basic understanding, troubleshooting and experience withMechanical Systems(gears, pulleys, chains, belts, shafts, industrial gear boxes, water pumps, air compressors, HVAC experience A+)
Basic understanding, troubleshooting and experience withElectrical Systems(AC circuits-motors and drives, DC circuits-motors and drives, 480 Volts 3 phase, transformers, control power, relays)
Basic understanding, troubleshooting and experience withPneumatic Systems(valves, controls, pressure, flow, cylinders)
Basic understanding, troubleshooting and experience withHydraulic Systems(valves, controls, pressure, flow, cylinders)
Basic understanding, troubleshooting and experience withElectronic Systems(controls, ladder logic, PLC programming, C programming A+)
Machining skills (work on a mill, lath, grinder, saw, drill, etc.) a plus
Welding experience (tig, stick)
Proficient at reading/interpreting blue prints and schematics (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic)
Plumbing skills (threading, soldering joints, etc.)
Good attendance and work ethic.
Ability to work independently and prioritize work. Self-motivated
Ability to stand 8 hours a day.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
Must be able to wear protective equipment as required.
