    This position is seasonal (Fall 2022). Year-round work for this position is available by committing to multiple seasons. Please inquire for more information.Under the supervision of the Outdoor Education Manager, the Outdoor Education Coordinator monitors and assists program staff in all aspects of daily operations. The major components of this position include: Responsibilities

    Mentoring, supporting, and setting a good example for the education staff

    Assisting in curriculum development and implementation

    Observing and giving feedback to education staff

    Creating class and staff schedules as needed

    Helping to plan and facilitate staff meetings

    Reviewing project proposals and curriculum

    Welcome, orient, and provide assistance to clients

    Teach classes as needed and facilitating 1-3 evening programs per week

    Assist staff and clients at meals

    Provide basic First Aid and CPR to clients as needed

    Maintain and oversee equipment/supplies

    Assist with program operations such as animal and garden care

    Remain up-to-date and share new educational theories, standards, and other residential program procedures

    Attending professional development workshops and trainings

    Take on temporary duties of the Outdoor Education Manager as needed

    Complete other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements

    18 years of age or older

    Maintain current Adult and Child First Aid & CPR/AED certifications from a nationally recognized provider (at least 50% of the course must be in-person with a practical skills session)

    Maintain a valid driver’s license, be able to operate a motor vehicle, and be insurable in the state of California

    General knowledge of all classes offered at Pathfinder Ranch, and a willingness to learn more about each class

    Communicate ecological, recreational, and conservation concepts to 5th and 6th grade students from diverse backgrounds

    Large group management experience (100+ people)

    Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel and Publisher

    Create new curriculum based on current state education standards

    Passion for teaching and building strong mentoring relationships with students and staff

    Communicate effectively, and give constructive feedback to colleagues

    Complete tasks both independently and collaboratively in a timely and accurate manner

    Communicate and coordinate with participant parents/guardians/group liaisons

    Attentive to detail, flexible, self-motivated, organized, and good time management

    Preferred Qualifications

    Past experience with archery, canoeing, ropes courses, horses, farm animals, reptiles and/or gardens

    1+ years supervisory experience in a camp setting

    Current Lifeguard or Watercraft Guard certification from a nationally recognized provider

    Bilingual or multilingual Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or related work experience

    Physical Requirements

    Lift and carry 30 lbs. with reasonable accommodations

    Work a varied shift schedule in excess of 10 hours per day

    Traverse several miles per day on steep and uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions.

    Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard

    Compensation

    $600.00 - $720.00 per week
