    Job Description

    Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Lodge Counselor will serve as a caregiver for Campers, primary facilitator of camp activities, and supervisor of Cabin Counselors. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and carrying out activities for each cabin group and guiding Campers and Cabin Counselors in their personal growth and daily living skills. The major responsibilities of this position include the following but are not limited to:

    Responsibilities

    Be a role model – Set a good example for Campers and staff in attitude and behavior

    Follow and uphold all policies and procedures of Pathfinder Ranch

    Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning, and leadership roles

    Design and facilitate activities to be safe, fun, and appropriate to Campers’ age and abilities

    Encourage Campers to participate and try new activities

    Lead activities in low- to mid-risk program areas such arts & crafts, canoeing, and archery

    Assist in other program areas such as climbing and horseback riding as needed

    Supervise Campers during scheduled times (includes meals and evenings)

    Accurately complete program records, logs, and reports

    Ensure the security and safety of camp facilities, grounds, and equipment

    Coordinate with Cabin Counselors on creation of daily and weekly schedules

    Collaborate with Cabin Counselors, Program Assistants, and Team Leads in program planning

    Inventory and recommend equipment acquisitions as needed

    Provide positive public relations on behalf of Pathfinder Ranch and provide excellent customer service

    Communicate and coordinate with Camper parents/guardians as needed

    Comply with Health and Fire Department regulations, organizational policies, and accreditation standard

    Other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements

    18 years of age or older.

    Ability to work cooperatively on diverse teams and with a variety of clients

    Ability to give, accept, and integrate feedback graciously

    Sincere interest and ability to work with children in the outdoors

    Willing and able to complete tasks both independently and collaboratively in a timely and accurate manner

    Skilled at interpersonal communication in a variety of formats

    Reside on camp property and be “on call” during program sessions

    Hold or acquire current pediatric and adult First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications from a nationally recognized provider

    Preferred Qualifications

    1+ years experience working in a camp setting

    Lifeguard and/or Waterfront Lifeguard Certification from a nationally recognized provider

    Bilingual or multilingual

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. with reasonable accommodations

    Ability to work a varied shift schedule in excess of 10 hours per day.

    Ability to traverse several miles per day on steep and uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions.
