    General Summary:

    Working closely with our executive team, the research lab technician will help us design and validate our pipeline for DNA extraction, NGS library preparation, and sequencing. This position requires a strong working knowledge of common lab protocols, the ability to problem-solve, and a detail-oriented work style. This position will require an individual to think critically about designing and optimizing a pipeline. If the candidate Work will also include application and usage of a robotic pipetting apparatus.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    The candidate will process human samples for sequencing (end-to-end). Protocols include but are not limited to DNA/RNA depletion, DNA extraction, NGS library preparation, and sequencing. The majority of the protocols will be direct applications from commercial kits. On occasion, we will be designing custom protocols and experiments. Furthermore, the candidate must be able to document and report experimental results, troubleshoot equipment order supplies, perform general lab housekeeping, and maintain safety records.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field required.

    Experience with laboratory research techniques is necessary with a willingness to problem solve.

    Skills and abilities:

    Must be able to work independently without guidance. Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with our team is a must. Python programming experience is preferred.

    Technical qualifications:

    DNA/RNA depletion, DNA extraction, library prep, sequencing, PCR, other common lab protocols.

    Independently carry out research while documenting and compiling results.

    Physical Requirements:

    Standing for extended periods of time.

    Lifting lab equipment.

    Dexterity required to manipulate objects and perform labs.
