    Job Description - Operations Lab Manager - Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), PathoQuest, Inc.

    PathoQuest 5AS, a spin-out of Institut Pasteur, offers a wide range of innovative next generation sequencing (NGS)-based solutions to the biotech and biopharma industries with a goal to assure the safety and rapid commercialization of biologics. With a focus on rapidly advancing cell and gene therapies and viral vaccine safety, and to further expand our capabilities and strengthen our strategic partnership with Charles Rivers Laboratories (a leading provider of preclinical/clinical laboratory services for the pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology industries), PathoQuest SAS, based in Paris France, has recently established a state-of-the-art us subsidiary, PathoQuest lnc., in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. We are currently looking to hire an experienced Operations Lab Manager with strong Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) experience to support our growing US-based activities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The incumbent will oversee the day-to-day operations and activities of the laboratoryand staff that utilize Next Generation Sequencing to advance biosafety testing for the biopharma/biomanufacturing industries.

    • Proven working knowledge and expertise with molecular biology-based laboratory operations, equipment and overall staff management is critical.

    • Ensure testing is performed in accordance with all standard operating procedures (SOPs), current regulations (cGMP/GLP) and local practices.

    *Lead by example, offer scientific coaching and mentoring to staff members (training and scientific support for ongoing projects). Ensure staff are sufficiently  trained to execute tasks and supporting activities.

    *Liaise closely with management and support teams (quality/program management) to ensure scientific integrity and customer satisfaction with all offerings

    *Provide technical advice and support for internal and external interactions such as client and regulatory audits/inspections, meetings, and teleconferences.

    *Draft/revise SOPs, laboratory records and other related documentation and ensure laboratory adherence to documented policies.

    *Manage/maintain all laboratory supplies, equipment and environmental or other support systems. Coordinate standing orders/service/maintenance schedules with manufacturers and service vendors. Ensure systems remain in a validated state.

    *Promote a culture of continuous improvement; act as champion on initiatives and/or projects to drive improvement in quality and/or client service.

    *ldentify, create and monitor key performance indicators (KPls) and other key business metric such as quality (right first time), turn-around time (on-time delivery) and operational costs (financial stewardship) to proactively ensure excellence in operations.

    *Maintain appropriate professional certifications, training, and technical knowledge pertinent to job function and responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    Experience and Education

    Required:

    *PhD in a related scientific discipline (molecular biology, biotechnology, genomics) with three (3) or more years of relevant experience

    *MA/MS in a related scientific discipline with six (5) or more years relevant experience

    *Proven expertise/knowledge of next generation sequencing (NGS)-based applications and workflows

    *Strong working knowledge of current Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) & Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

    *Experience leading, supervising, coaching, and training staff in a laboratory setting.

    • Experience overseeing complex and highly technical projects.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Experience with molecular biology, genomics, biotechnology and next generation sequencing applications is critical.

    Excellent oral and written communication, critical-thinking, time-management, and resolution-finding skills

    *Strong leadership skills and an ability to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment as part of a diverse team.

    • Proven proficiency with molecular biology-related practices, techniques, equipment including automation, materials, and mathematical calculations, specifically those related to NGS-based workflows.

    *Ability to analyze and present technical information to a broad audience.

    *Ability to implement company commercial and financial strategies and work closely with the management team.

    *Candidates must be currently eligible to work in the United States.

    *Candidates must reside in the Philadelphia metro area. No relocation package is available
