Position Summary
The IT Business Analyst EHR is under the direction of the Sr IT Director. The IT Business Analyst EHR position is identified as “employee class” and may be part-time or full-time status. This position helps team members across multiple states to find solutions and implement new system updates, as well as maintain and provide governance for existing systems. The IT Business Analyst EHR must have an awareness of the operational challenges that direct service team members face and how to best resolve them.
Essential Functions
Primary responsibilities for the IT Business Analyst EHR include problem-solving challenges to provide wrap-around application support, system maintenance and management, working with a variety of business stakeholders (operational, finance, human resources, IT, executive management ) and other entities with which the company interfaces, as well as report writing and ad-hoc query building as needed to support on-going business initiatives. Associated duties include 1st and 2nd level direct end-user support for off-the-shelf standardized software systems and other business applications; new project implementations, including gathering needs and requirements from the stakeholders and translating those into functional specifications so that all teams understand the project from a business and clinical perspective; and the creation of core documentation describing the implementation needs in a natural and consistent language so that all teams are working together toward a successful project outcome. This support could be provided both remotely and in person, depending on the support location.
Job Duties
Provide wrap-around application support, maintenance and management services for business applications including configuring those applications where customization is available, and maintaining both the clients and the servers and services that make up the applications
Build/run reusable reports including ad-hoc queries/reports in response to business needs
Act as a bridge between business operations (clinical, finance and administrative departments) and external entities and systems to which the company interfaces. This will include attending community meetings and keeping up to date on the latest requirements of the interface requirements of those entities
Provide 1st and 2nd Level end-user support and troubleshoot software problems for software applications, and various software utilities/specialized systems
Contribute to various projects as directed by their supervisors. The extent of that responsibility will include the entire cycle of the project, including requirements gathering, software research and purchase recommendation, system implementation (setup, configuration, testing and deployment), scheduling involved personnel including working with any outside consultants or vendors, system maintenance and updates, and end-user training
Assist with evaluation of new information systems, products, or services as directed and offer suggestions for changes to existing products or services to better aide the end user
Help business operations utilize information systems to improve efficiency
Identify, research, and resolve technical problems
Respond to phone calls, emails, and personnel requests for technical support in a timely manner
Document, track, and monitor entries in various collaborative time management tools to ensure a timely resolution of reported issues
Structure, design, and participate in the training of key staff for implementing new functionality
Work with the IT Compliance Department to ensure systems are properly managed with respect to Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and IT best practices including company policies and procedures compliance
Travel is required, by both plane and car. On occasion, nights and weekends will be part of the work schedule for special projects
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in MIS or equivalent work experience required
4 years or more of additional relevant experience required
4 year or more experience using and/or supporting EHR systems
Capacity and connectivity resources to work remotely
Qualifications
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of HIPAA privacy and other governance related to federal and state regulations
Experience working in a health care related field
Experience working in a multi-national and multi-cultural environment
Working knowledge of basic SQL query structure and report writing using Crystal Reports and associated tools
