The Eligibility and Benefits Specialist maintains accurate AHCCCS benefit information and assists families with the application or reapplication process.
General Description
The Eligibility and Benefits Specialist screens for determining insurance eligibility and assists in submitting benefit applications with AHCCCS or the Healthcare Marketplace. The Eligibility and Benefits Specialist will continuously reconcile benefits with AHCCCS, private insurance and any other funders. S/he is responsible for updating the Electronic Health Record with current benefit information.
The Eligibility and Benefits Specialist will do other duties as assigned or necessary to support the Admissions and Client Information Services department and/or the company, such as data entry, and special projects/assignments.
Recovery Requirements
Knowledge of current AHCCCS, Healthcare Marketplace, private insurance eligibility guidelines and benefits
Timely and accurate completion of mandated paperwork
Timely and consistent completion of all required training
Flexibility and ability to manage ever-changing priorities, to meet the urgent needs of the client/family
Accurate and timely reconciliation of AHCCCS benefits
Update benefit information accurately and timely in the Electronic Health Record
Maintain productivity standards
Effective use of the Electronic Health Record system
Maintain ethical standards, integrity and professional boundaries
Demonstrate professionalism and good customer service
Other duties as assigned or necessary to support your department and/or the company.
Education, Certifications and License Requirements
Certified Application Counselor through the Healthcare Marketplace or experience in assisting completion of benefit applications. Bilingual is preferred but not required.
Must have current fingerprint clearance (and maintain during employment) and be able to pass the background check. Proof of: current TB test, CPR/FA and a valid Arizona driver’s license as well as proof of education are required. Bilingual-Spanish/English a plus.
