Patient Care Coordinator – Ophthalmology and Elective Vision Services

Luxor Eye Institute | Bakersfield, California | Full-Time

Guide Patients Through Life-Changing Eye Care

Luxor Eye Institute is hiring a confident, compassionate, and results-driven Patient Care Coordinator to help patients move from consultation to treatment.

This role combines patient education, scheduling, follow-up, relationship management, and elective service coordination. You will work with patients considering cataract surgery, LASIK, ICL, dry eye treatments, specialty lenses, laser procedures, and other advanced eye-care services.

This is not a traditional front desk position. It is a patient-facing coordination and conversion role requiring strong communication, organization, follow-through, and professional judgment.

    What You Will Do

Guide patients through the consultation and treatment process

Educate patients about recommended procedures and service options

Schedule consultations, treatments, and surgical appointments

Follow up with patients who have not yet scheduled

Coordinate referrals from optometrists and other providers

    Maintain communication with referring offices

Track leads, consultations, conversions, and pending decisions

Discuss financing and payment options when appropriate

    Document every patient interaction accurately

Coordinate with physicians, technicians, front desk staff, and leadership

Prevent patients from being lost because of poor follow-up

Support premium cataract, LASIK, ICL, and dry eye service growth

    What Success Looks Like

Within your first 90 days, you should be able to:

Manage an assigned patient pipeline independently

Follow up with every pending patient on schedule

Explain services clearly without providing medical advice

Identify patient concerns and escalate clinical questions appropriately

    Maintain accurate notes and tracking

Meet established scheduling and conversion expectations

    Communicate effectively with referring providers

Provide a polished, high-touch patient experience

    The Right Candidate

You may be a strong fit if you are:

    Confident speaking with patients

Comfortable discussing premium services and financial options

    Organized and persistent

    Empathetic without being passive

    Motivated by measurable results

Able to manage multiple patient cases simultaneously

    Skilled at overcoming hesitation professionally

Strong in telephone, text, email, and in-person communication

Comfortable being held accountable for follow-up and outcomes

Interested in healthcare, sales, or patient advocacy

    Preferred Qualifications

Medical, dental, aesthetic, optical, or elective healthcare experience

    Ophthalmology or optometry experience

Patient sales or treatment coordination experience

Experience with CRM systems or lead tracking

Experience with Nextech or similar practice-management software

Experience discussing financing or elective procedures

Bilingual English and Spanish is a significant advantage

    Who Should Not Apply

This position will not be a good fit if you:

    Are uncomfortable discussing treatment costs

Avoid follow-up because you do not want to appear persistent

Fail to document calls and patient interactions

Wait for patients to contact you instead of managing the relationship

Struggle with accountability or performance expectations

    Dislike fast-paced environments

    Are uncomfortable receiving coaching

    Prefer a low-responsibility administrative role
