We are seeking a dedicated and bilingual (Chinese – Mandarin/Cantonese) Patient Services Coordinator to join our team supporting the Asian Initiatives Program across our Radiation and Surgery departments. This hybrid position will help bridge language and cultural barriers, ensuring that our Chinese-speaking patients receive exceptional, compassionate care. The role combines in-office duties at our Brooklyn and Manhattan locations with remote administrative support.

    Primary Responsibilities

Community and Program Support: Serve as a key liaison for the Asian Initiatives Program, supporting outreach and coordination for Chinese-speaking patients receiving radiation and surgical care.

Appointment Scheduling and Coordination: Manage complex scheduling needs across multiple sites and specialties, optimizing provider availability and minimizing patient wait times.

Patient Check-In and Check-Out: Verify insurance coverage, collect co-pays, and confirm demographic details with accuracy and sensitivity.

Patient Communication: Handle a high volume of patient calls, inquiries, and scheduling requests in both English and Chinese. Provide clear, empathetic communication to ensure understanding and comfort.

Records and EMR Management: Maintain complete and accurate patient records using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.

Care Continuity and Follow-Up: Educate patients on procedures, insurance requirements, and follow-up instructions. Conduct post-visit follow-up calls to ensure continuity of care.

Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with nursing, radiation oncology, surgical scheduling, and administrative teams to streamline patient flow and communication between departments.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

Bilingual (Chinese/English) Required: Fluency in both Mandarin and Cantonese highly preferred.

Healthcare Experience: Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical workflows, and the needs of oncology and surgical patients.

Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple priorities, patient requests, and department needs under time constraints.

Customer Service Orientation: Demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with patients of diverse backgrounds, particularly within the Chinese community.

Technical Proficiency: Experience using EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams).

Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work closely with medical and administrative staff across multiple locations.

    Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a hybrid healthcare role or in community-based medical outreach settings.

Prior administrative support within radiation oncology, surgical, or specialty care.

Flexible work from home options available.
