Patient Service Representative - Gahanna, OH - FT Contract
Overview
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) plays a pivotal role in ensuring efficient patient services by adhering to established departmental protocols, policies, and procedures. This position serves as the primary liaison between patients and the healthcare team, facilitating seamless communication and administrative processes.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Interaction & CommunicationRespond to telephone inquiries, directing callers appropriately or documenting messages for medical personnel.
Retrieve and address voicemails promptly, ensuring timely follow-up.
Provide callers with essential information about the organization, including address and directions.
Greet and direct patients, vendors, and visitors upon arrival.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments, adhering to scheduling guidelines and referral requirements.
Verify patient demographics and insurance information, entering details into the Electronic Practice Management (EPM) system.
Initiate appointment reminders via phone calls or written communication.
Distribute new patient information packets and assist in form completion.
Collect and update patient information, ensuring accuracy in records.
Confirm insurance eligibility using available systems and obtain copies of insurance cards.
Enter and retrieve patient information from computer systems as needed.
Collect, record, and process account payments, preparing transaction reports as directed.
Handle cash and other payments in compliance with company policies.
Receive, sort, and route mail; maintain and distribute publications.
Complete patient outreach tasks as directed.
Attend meetings, participate in committees, and complete assigned training sessions.
Perform additional duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and PHI handling policies.
Qualifications
Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Prior experience in a medical office or customer service setting is preferred.
Proficient in preparing reports and routine business correspondence.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of interacting with diverse individuals.
Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to follow directions and think logically to troubleshoot and make decisions.
Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, email systems, and web-based programs.
Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment.
The capacity to stand and sit for extended periods and move intermittently throughout the workday.
Strong sensory skills, including visual acuity, hearing, and dexterity.
Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds with or without assistance.
