  • Responsibilities

     

    This position is responsible for all aspects of administration of CalOptima desktop systems and administration of server systems.  Employees in this senior-level will carry out system and network administration functions independently, with a sound understanding of the interactions between hardware, operating system software and network operations; and the design and administrative requirements to ensure an efficient, reliable, secure infrastructure.  The incumbent is expected to bring projects to conclusion, including development of operating procedures, instruction and training, and required documentation.  Work is performed and technical decisions made with some latitude for independent judgment.

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the administration, maintenance and security of IT related devices in a Local Area Network (LAN)/ Wide Area Network (WAN) environment supporting 1100 + end-users and 500 + physical and virtual servers.
    • Maintains network security including firewall security, Virtual Private Network (VPN) security, application security, event investigations and compliance enforcement.
    • Performs Active Directory administration: add/remove users, disable/unlock accounts, reset passwords, group policy, Organizational Unit (OU) management, and New Technology File System (NTFS) folder permissions.
    • Performs server hardware and software support, administration and monthly/annual hardware and software upgrades.
    • Monitors and manages system resources, including Central Processing Unit (CPU) usage, disk usage, and backup systems to maintain operating efficiency.
    • Administrates and troubleshoots Avaya telephony systems and equipment.
    • Provides advance helpdesk support for organization, including troubleshooting and repairing (computer hardware and software, Citrix, and application support).
    • BlackBerry Unified Enterprise Management administration and iPhone deployment/support.
    • Conducts system administration functions for e-mail system.
    • Writes or modifies basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate systems administration tasks.
    • Creates and presents clear and concise documentation for problem resolution, standard operating procedures, and projects.
    • Stays current with new infrastructure technology and security standards.
    • Other projects and duties as assigned.

    • Demonstrate leadership and foster a collaborative team approach – interacts well with front line and management providing consultation and expert advice on systems related topics.
    • Research, test, and evaluate vendor hardware and software products.
    • Review system performance statistics.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and develop system, time, equipment, and cost requirements.
    • Manage and complete assigned projects and tasks on time independently, with minimal supervision.
    • Support 1000+ user, 500 + server environment, network printers, scanners, and photocopiers.
    • Train and provide technical guidance to team members.
    • Manage multiple projects, activities, and tasks simultaneously.
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
    • Diagnose and resolve complex enterprise-wide issues.
    • Utilize computer and appropriate software (e.g. Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and job specific applications/systems to produce correspondence, charts, spreadsheets, and/or other information applicable to the position assignment.

    Required Experience

     

    EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

    • High School degree or equivalent required.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information systems or equivalent technical education is preferred.
    • 7 Years of experience in Information Technology as a Systems Administrator is required.
    • 3 Years of experience in advanced monitoring, support, and troubleshooting of desktop, server, telephony, information security, and networking is required.
    • 3 Years of experience in Enterprise project implementation and management is required.

     

    KNOWLEDGE OF:

    • Current desktop operating systems (Windows 10) and server operating system (Windows Server 2012 +).
    • Network routers and switches.
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of current desktop and server hardware technologies.
    • Technical and procedural documentation.
    • Automating processes via PowerShell scripting.
    • Citrix computing environment.
    • VMware.
    • RightFax or other e-faxing solution.
    • Cloud computing.
    • Unified Enterprise Management.
    • RSA and Juniper VPN.
    • File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server administration.
