Essential Duties/Responsibilities
The Business Operations Manager’s primary role is to serve as the business partner for the General Manager and provide leadership and support to the accounting team. This includes managing the business operations, finances and identifying new business opportunities. This position will oversee project-based cost accounting, Percentage of Completion (PoC) revenue recognition, general accounting for the office, account payables, accounts receivables, order entry, billing, business analysis and financial reporting.
Manage the accounting team members and productivity
Analyze business performance of operations that drive growth, strategy and profitability initiatives
Perform financial analysis, planning and budget management
Communicates business performance based on budget projections
Partner with the Director of Finance to ensure growth of the local office
Prepare and communicate accurate and timely financial statements and supplemental schedules
Complete project/job cost accounting for active and closed jobs
Complete (PoC) accounting and project review experience for active and closed jobs
Administer finance and accounting policies, procedures and controls to ensure conformity with GAAP and SOX regulations
Ensure financial plans and forecasts are developed and variances are analyzed
Manage cash flow, cash forecasting and cash collections
Process inter-company and miscellaneous billings to affiliates and customers
Prepare internal reports for use by management, operations, and corporate
Hire and develop accounting team members as needed
Competency – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Analytical thinker who can work independently with minimal oversight, ability to make decisions focused around business strategy
Strong financial analysis and forecasting skills
Experience in GAAP and managing internal controls
Knowledge of assessing, analyzing, and improving business performance within the finance department
Ability to learn and operate our primary financial operating systems: RMS, Quickbooks, Sage, SharePoint, and One Drive
Ability to lead and manage the work of team members
Strong communication skills
Maintain a level of high confidentiality
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Five plus years’ experience in financial accounting
Experience in general ledgers, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking
Preferred Education and Experience
MBA in Accounting or Finance or related field
CMA, CPA, or CPA candidate
