    Position Title – Paving Superintendent

    As the Paving Superintendent you will be expected to supervise the daily functions of 40|50s paving operations. This includes oversight of paving work, delegation, time management, and quality control. See a list below of duties included in this role. Keep in mind this is not an exhaustive list, and items may be added as the company deems necessary.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Ability to plan, supervise and delegate work

    Instruct, train, and monitor subordinates on their work performance and proper use of equipment

    Recommend additional training for subordinates when appropriate

    Direct asphalt work, milling work, and trucking to create a smooth efficient workplace

    Work with project engineers, technicians and surveyors to implement construction plans

    Enforce work regulations, respond to grievances, and make recommendations for or impose discipline as necessary

    Estimate time and resource requirements for projects

    Maintain records of equipment, supplies, and labor hours using provided tools

    Coordinate ordering of equipment and materials

    Oversee, recommend, and implement safety policies and procedures

    Basic knowledge of computers

    Strong verbal and written communication

    Enforce the company’s goals, policies, procedures and safety standards, while meeting deadlines.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or GED required; degree in construction or related field preferred.

    5+ years of heavy civil construction experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.

    Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment, and safety practices.

    Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.

    Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

    Proficiency with construction management software and reporting tools.

    Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

    Physical Requirements:

    Standing/Walking – Frequent (34–66% of workday): On-site supervision and inspections.

    Sitting – Occasional (1–33%): Driving and administrative work.

    Climbing – Occasional: Accessing equipment and job site areas.

    Bending/Kneeling – Occasional: Inspecting and troubleshooting work.

    Lifting/Carrying – Occasional: Up to 50 lbs.

    Repetitive Motions – Occasional to Frequent: Tool use and data entry.

    Driving – Occasional to Frequent: Travel between job sites.

    Environmental Exposure – Frequent to Constant: Outdoor conditions with PPE required.
