    Payroll Accountant

    Salary Range: $45,000 - $65,000 annually (Based on experience, education, and certifications)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Accurately calculate, process, and distribute bi-weekly or bonus payroll (November & December) for all employees, including hourly, salaried, non

      exempt, and exempt staff.

    • Maintain precise and up-to-date payroll records, including

      timesheets, wage adjustments, attendance, and related documentation.

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and

      hour laws. Remain current on all payroll regulations and best practices.

    • Tax Filings: Prepare and submit all relevant payroll tax filings, including W-2, W-3,

      1099, and quarterly tax reports.

    • Reconcile payroll tax liabilities and assist in year-end tax processes.
    • Calculate and process deductions for benefits such as health

      insurance, retirement plans, garnishments, and other voluntary or involuntary

      deductions.

    • Develop regular and ad hoc payroll reports for management, finance, and

      audit purposes. Analyze payroll data and prepare reconciliations as needed.

    • Prepare and provide payroll documentation for internal, external, and

      regulatory audits. Address audit inquiries and implement necessary corrections or

      process improvements.

    • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance payroll

      processes, procedures, and controls for greater efficiency and accuracy.

    • Serve as the point of contact for employees on payroll matters,

      including pay discrepancies, payroll questions, and pay statement clarifications.

      REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. An associate's degree with extensive payroll experience may also be considered.
    • Minimum of 2-4 years in payroll processing, payroll accounting, or a closely related field.
    • Experience with multi-state payroll is advantageous but not required.
    • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is highly desirable.
    • Proficiency in payroll software (such as Sage HRMS, or similar platforms), Microsoft Excel, and Accounting systems.
    • Solid understanding of payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and general accounting principles.
