    Payroll & People Operations Lead Part-Time | 90% Remote | Santa Monica, CA

    Position Summary The Payroll & People Operations (PPO) Lead is a multifaceted role responsible for HR compliance, payroll, and administrative support. This position is ideal for someone organized, proactive, and values-aligned, ready to support a growing studio rooted in integrity and community.

    Reports to: CEO/Dojo Owner Schedule: Typically M–F between 10am–6pm

    Responsibilities

    👥 People Operations (HR):

    Manage recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding

    Maintain up-to-date personnel records and certifications

    Support performance reviews and internal communications

    Ensure labor law and policy compliance

    Contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture

    💵 Payroll & Financial Operations:

    Process payroll via ADP and QuickBooks

    Maintain payroll/time tracking records

    Assist with bank reconciliations, tax prep, and reporting

    Support vendor payments, reimbursements, and revenue tracking

    📋 Studio Administration:

    Maintain SOPs and secure electronic filing systems

    Oversee systems maintenance, upgrades, and vendor management

    Organize documentation for registrations, waivers, and compliance

    Help coordinate scheduling, staffing, and team meetings

    Track studio financials when classes are not in session

    Qualifications

    Experience in HR, payroll, and small business operations

    Proficiency in ADP and QuickBooks (required)

    Knowledge of HR compliance and labor laws (preferred)

    Experience with WellnessLiving or similar systems (a plus)

    Background in youth programs or martial arts (a plus)

    Detail-oriented with strong communication skills

    Background check required
