POSITION TITLE: Payroll Specialist
REPORTING TO: Accounting Controller, Human Resources Manager
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Part Time
JOB SUMMARY
Manage Payroll Coordination, Employee Benefits, and documentation related to hiring and onboarding employees.
Assist with daily business office and bookkeeping activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain all payroll related records, including spreadsheets, accounting database and payroll accounts
Process bi-weekly payroll and research and resolves questions from managers and employees as they relate to the processing of payroll
Communicates with HR to ensure the integrity of the payroll data, including data related to new hires, terminations, and rate changes
Assist with new hire recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes
Maintain record of employee benefit accruals, updating monthly
Prepare annual benefit statements
Provide support to Accounting Controller on varied accounting/business duties including bank reconciliation, various state and local tax filings, and assistance with annual budgeting process

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business or equivalent working experience
Three (3) years’ working experience in payroll and accounting required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Ability to prioritize and attention to detail required
Ability to maintain and manage a high level of confidentiality and professionalism required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office based programs; proficiency in Excel preferred
Experience with TOAST Payroll preferred
Experience with Sage Accounting Software preferred
Extensive experience with data entry and record keeping preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is generally performed in an office environment.
Use standard office equipment (computer, phone, printer, etc.)
Travel occasionally to other locations for meetings, conferences, etc.
