  • Responsibilities

    STGi is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist for our Corporate Headquarters office located in Arlington, VA.

    This is an entry level role.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • · Review/audit new hire folders for accuracy and verify any changes
    • · Process terminations and PTO payouts
    • · Calculate retro payments
    • · Prepare check requests and wire documentation for any out-of-cycle payments
    • · Maintain online timesheets
    • · Assist employees with training in ADP iPay and Deltek Time and Expense timesheets
    • · Assist/Train company personnel on purchase order requisitions
    • · Analyze proper charge codes and entering vouchers into the AP system
    • · Post expenses to the voucher distribution journal in the correct period
    • · Select invoices for payment and post to the cash disbursement journal
    • · Process checks weekly
    • · Post time sheets to the voucher distribution journal in the correct period
    • · Select timesheets for payment and post to the cash disbursement journal
    • · Creating EFT files and ensuring accurate payments to all consultants

    Required Skills

    Required Experience

    • · Minimum one year payroll and accounting experience (two years preferred).
    • · Knowledge of Deltek, Costpoint, Deltek Time and Expense and ADP Workforce Now.
    • · Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • · Detail oriented and self-starter working in fast paced environment
    • · Bachelor's Degree in accounting recommended but not required.
  • Qualifications
    • Requires excellent knowledge of standard set ups, adjustments and operating characteristics of the equipment and skill to perform standard adjustments and operate the equipment
    • Ability to perform basic mathematics (i.e. decimals, metric units) to understand dimensional requirements contained in job orders and to make more complicated adjustments
    • Ability to use the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the bindery machines 
    • Skill in making adjustments to powered machines using hand tools (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, punches, knives) as well as more specialized hand tools, usually furnished by the machine manufacturer
    • Ability to read and interpret documents to include job tickets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals which indicates the number and sequence of machine operations required to complete the work and maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with instructions provided
    • Able to work extended hours and weekends
    • Job requires the ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
    • Must be able to operator well in a team environment
    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
    • Must be able to perform repetitive hand motions
    • Must have the ability to achieve standard production and quality goals
    • Must have experience working in a fast paced, demanding, and deadline driven production environment
    • Must be willing to work mandatory overtime periods as critical work volume dictates
