Payroll Specialist
Location: On-Site
Compensation: $24.00–$29.00/hour, depending on experience
Vector Talent Solutions is a veteran-owned workforce solutions firm dedicated to helping organizations identify, attract, and hire top talent. We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to support accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across business operations.
The Payroll Specialist will manage payroll transactions throughout the payroll cycle, including timekeeping validation, wage calculations, employee data changes, reconciliations, tax reporting, and payroll recordkeeping.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, review, validate, and process time records, earnings, deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, commissions, and other payroll inputs.
Calculate regular wages, overtime, and other applicable compensation.
Review timekeeping records and coordinate corrections with Human Resources, Operations, and authorized supervisors.
Process employee payroll changes, including compensation, direct deposits, tax withholdings, benefit deductions, and garnishments.
Support payroll administration for new hires, transfers, and terminations.
Perform pre- and post-payroll reconciliations and review payroll registers and exception reports for accuracy.
Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, including underpayments, overpayments, deductions, and timekeeping issues.
Support federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance, filings, and reporting requirements.
Assist with quarterly and annual payroll reporting, including Forms W-2.
Support payroll-related general ledger reconciliations, audits, and financial reporting.
Support certified payroll, prevailing wage, and project-specific payroll reporting, as applicable.
Maintain accurate payroll records while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to established internal controls.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in Accounting, Payroll, Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
1–3 years of payroll processing, accounting, Human Resources, or related experience required.
Working knowledge of payroll processing, wage-and-hour requirements, tax withholding, garnishments, and benefit deductions.
Experience with payroll software, HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with payroll tax forms, reporting requirements, and payroll reconciliations.
Construction payroll, certified payroll, or prevailing wage experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, and ability to consistently meet payroll deadlines.
Strong communication, problem-solving, customer service, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
