    Job Summary:

    The Payroll Steward is essential to ensuring efficient, compliant production operations by acting as the primary liaison between production management and the union workforce. This role oversees the precise tracking and verification of labor hours, enforces adherence to Collective Bargaining Agreements, and proactively identifies and resolves discrepancies in real time. Operating across fast-paced environments—including corporate, educational, and live entertainment productions—the Payroll Steward combines exceptional attention to detail with a strong command of union regulations, effective communication skills, and the ability to maintain professionalism and sound judgment under pressure.

    This is a union stage crew role. Any successful candidate will be required to join IATSE Local #13 and fulfill membership requirements.

    General Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Maintain meticulous daily sign-in/out records for all crew members, ensuring all hours are captured in real-time
    • Compile and verify daily labor workbooks, submitting draft versions to the Regional Manager (RM) before shift end and final versions post-call per contract requirements
    • Distribute daily PDF summaries and settlement totals to the Client and RM, providing projected show-call and load-out estimates by 5:00 PM on performance days
    • Support employee onboarding by verifying worker eligibility and ensure all required tax and employment documentation is completed before work commences
    • Ensure all department operations adhere to the IATSE collective bargaining agreement, including meal breaks, turnaround times, and safety regulations
    • Act as the primary on-site lead, directing crew assignments and daily schedules to align with production goals and efficient labor utilization
    • Maintain real-time communication with the Client and Employer regarding workflow progress, adapting the leadership approach to meet shifting production demands
    • Lead pre-call safety briefings covering venue-specific hazards, Local safety requirements, and Employer directives
    • Execute crew reductions (“cuts”) as directed by the Client, ensuring full compliance with applicable seniority and departmental rules
    • Document and submit comprehensive reports regarding attendance, disciplinary actions, and workplace injuries
    • Adapt quickly to changing production schedules, staffing adjustments, and live event demands

    Qualifications/Skill Requirements:

    • Minimum 2–5 years in payroll, accounting, or timekeeping roles (preferably in entertainment, events, or union labor environments)
    • Experience with payroll and timesheet management
    • Strong proficiency with Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables)
    • Strong communication skills for coordinating with client, touring staff, and facilities while under pressure
    • Experience working under IATSE Collective Bargaining Agreements
    • Knowledge of labor laws, overtime rules, or union agreements (preferred in entertainment/live events)
    • Ability to interpret and apply wage scales, classifications, and rate sheets
    • Ability to audit and reconcile timecards, call sheets, and crew reports
    • Experience resolving discrepancies between department logs and payroll submissions
    • Understanding of live event workflows (load-in, show days, load-out, touring schedules)
    • Demonstrated ability to perform and troubleshoot under pressure in live performance and broadcast environments
    • A background check will be initiated in accordance with state and federal law after a contingent offer of employment.

    • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Work in production offices, venues, trailers, or temporary event spaces
    • Extended periods of desk/computer work in non-traditional settings
    • Exposure to busy, loud, and active production environments
    • Occasional lifting or carrying of light office materials (if applicable)
    • Ability to remain focused during long shifts in dynamic environments

    The US base salary for this part-time position is $40/hour plus benefits as applicable.
