    Overview

    The Payroll Supervisor will lead the day-to-day payroll activities and provide senior level support to the payroll processing team. This position is responsible for processing multi-state payroll for a large employer. The Payroll Supervisor will act as quality assurance by providing the final validation of payroll processing and is considered the subject matter expert for payroll and time.

    Job Functions

    • Conducts validation of payroll transmissions across multiple states and functions as quality assurance for payroll accuracy
    • Provides backup support for Payroll Specialists
    • Manages and coordinates documentation of payroll processes
    • Provides technical set up of payroll related items: pay rules, pay codes, earning/deduction codes, federal/state/local taxes
    • Researches and interprets multi-state tax requirements
    • Files multi-state payroll tax returns
    • Configures and tests complex payroll changes, troubleshooting system problems
    • Provides operational support to HR/Accounting and has a good understanding of accounting principles
    • Provides training/assistance to employees with time access and managers with time approval authority
    • Resolves escalated payroll inquiries
    • Manages specific project assignments and participates in cross-functional tasks as assigned
    • Makes recommendations for change/process improvements which include research and collaboration between HR and Accounting
    • Assists in internal and external audits
    • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes tasks and schedule to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Maintains strict confidentiality
    • Performs other duties and/or tasks as assigned

    Required Qualifications and Education

    • Associate’s degree or 5+ years equivalent working experience
    • 4-6 years’ related payroll experience
    • 4-6 years’ experience in processing multi-state payroll tax returns and payroll for employer size of 500+
    • 4-6 years’ hands on experience with ADP or Kronos

    Physical Demands

    • Must be mobile within an office space to access file cabinets, office and/or computer equipment
    • Must be able to sit for 7+ hours a day
    • Must be able to communicate verbally and written
    • Must be able to read from a screen
