Position Overview:
The Pearl’s Pantry Mobile Driver role is a critical position for SisterReach’s Pearl’s Pantry Mobile program and other mobile outreach. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of staff and the pantry's mobile services. This is a seasonal position (March–October) and reports to the Pearl’s Pantry Coordinator. The Pearl’s Pantry Mobile Driver supports the program’s mission to deliver harm reduction, pantry and outreach support to communities in need.
The role operates a 40-foot RV transporting items and staff to outreach locations. The role also assists with loading, unloading, and setting up tabling, testing, and outreach materials. Training will be provided for RV driving and maintenance. Candidates must be available for 20-30 hours per week, including some weekends.
Responsibilities:
Driving, Transportation, Safety
Safely operates a 40-foot RV to transport supplies, equipment, and staff to scheduled mobile pantry events, sites, and outreach locations.
Conducts pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the safety and functionality of vehicles.
Ensures vehicle is clean, fueled, and properly maintained; report any maintenance issues to the Program Coordinator - Pearl’s Pantry Mobile.
Collaborates with site contact about RV placement and safety precautions for mobile outreach sites in concert with Pearl’s Pantry Coordinator and outreach staff
Program and Harm Reduction Support
Assists with loading and unloading supplies, including groceries, clothing, and outreach materials.
Supports set up and dismantling equipment for mobile pantry services and tabling events.
Provides on-site support during events, including interacting with community members and assisting with service delivery as needed. [Training provided]
Coordination and Collaboration
Works closely with the Pearl's Pantry Coordinator and Harm Reduction & Education Manager to follow schedules and routes for mobile pantry and harm reduction events.
Collaborates staff, interns and volunteers to ensure seamless service delivery.
Maintains clear and professional communication with team members to ensure program success.
Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license with an appropriate driving record
Ability to operate a 40-foot RV
Experience driving large vehicles preferred but not required.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
Commitment to cultural humility, equity, and respect when interacting with diverse community members.
Availability to work flexible hours, including some weekends.
Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge (e.g., checking fluids, tire pressure) is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow schedules and adapt to changes in routes or event logistics.
Team player with a willingness to assist in program operations beyond driving.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk during outreach events.
Frequently required to use hands for loading and unloading supplies.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Compensation and Schedule:
Hourly Rate: Starting at $15/hour.
Hours: 20-30 hours per week, including some weekends.
Seasonal Position: March–October.
