    CAMP OPERATIONS COORDINATOR (SEASONAL CONTRACT)

    MISSION:

    Pedalheads® is a privately-owned company providing trail-blazing programs that promote children's health and development. The business currently operates instructional biking, swimming and multi-sports camps across Canada and the USA. Through innovative and educationally sound programs since 1986, we have earned a reputation for excellence in the communities that we serve.  

    THE POSITION:

    Pedalheads is hiring for a Camp Operations Coordinator in Portland, OR

    The Camp Operations Coordinator will assist the Regional/City Manager with various responsibilities.  This is an important role that includes recruiting candidates, evaluating resumes, scheduling, and conducting group and/or individual interviews, and managing the hiring paperwork and processes. In addition, you will be visiting and supporting our camps during the summer months and ensuring all our equipment and camp supplies are prepared and delivered to the locations on time.  This role is a seasonal position from February till September and in the months that your region is operating camp, will transition into a Sunday-Thursday work schedule from a Monday-Friday work schedule.

    OUTCOMES:

    Seasonal Hiring

    • Consult with Regional Manager to determine staff requirements and objectives
    • Prepare and post job descriptions on various web-based job boards
    • Use a variety of recruiting methods to find Instructors and Junior Volunteers
    • Screen applicants and conduct regular interviews (Group, Individual & Zoom) through our Applicant Tracking System, Breezy
    • Use tools provided to assess candidate's skills and ability to do the job
    • Prepare and manage all onboarding documents, staff lists, and training dates
    • Attend job fairs and career events, collaborate with local community groups and schools
    • Work with Site Managers during the summer with staff scheduling issues, helping to source instructors when additional staff are required

    CAMP MANAGEMENT

    • Establish positive relationships with camp leaders, instructors, and volunteers

    • Organize and maintain camp equipment and assist with the delivery of equipment to sites

    • Ensure that camp procedures and safety standards are being followed and upheld

    • Be actively involved in ensuring quality delivery of our children's programs

    • Participate in ensuring friendly, caring and safe camp environments

    • Be part of the summer site support team regularly visiting sites in assigned regional territory

    • Fill in for Site Managers during absences when needed

    • Building and maintaining positive relationships with site hosts and dealing with issues or concerns raised by hosts in an effective and timely manner

    CUSTOMER SERVICE

    • Assists Regional Manager with responding to customer complaints in a timely and professional manner, always aiming to provide solutions that ensure resolution.
    • Always willing to go the extra mile to engage customers and provide an excellent customer experience.
    • Proactively engage with parents and children on-site.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A minimum of 2 year's supervisory experience managing summer camps and/or teams of leaders/instructors
    • Hands on experience with children's programs/summer camps or in coaching, teaching, instructing children ages 3 to 8 years old
    • Must be competent with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
    • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel to areas of responsibility
    • Knowledge and understanding of the city and communities in the area
    • Valid First Aid Certificate
    • Must pass a background check upon hire

    ASSETS:

    • Degree in Education, Sports Management or related field or equivalent education and experience
    • Supervisory and/or hiring experience, especially with ages 15-25
