Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Human Resources Specialist provides support for various human resources programs within the organization. This function support both Pediatric Management Group and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Medical Group. This is a responsible position that uses a high level of discretion, interpretation and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
- Oversee Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
- Full life-cycle recruitment
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies
- Collaborates with the hiring manager to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria
- Generate job postings and advertisement processes
- Screens applications and selects qualified candidates
- Assist with recruitment and interview process
- Submits online background requests, exclusion check and applicant reference checks
- Prepares new employee file in online platform (Box)
- Conducts new employee orientation
- Works closely with payroll specialist, CHLA Academic Affairs, division administrators, and provider enrollment for the purposes of CHLAMG onboarding
- Primary contact for all CHLAMG employment questions and processes
- Respond to unemployment audits and VOE’s
- Conduct exit interviews on terminating employees
- Performs other related duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:
Recruiting and interviewing skills, Online meeting platform skills (Webex/Zoom), Knowledge of human resources practices and employment laws. Supports workplace diversity. Project management skills. Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively with staff, the public, and external agencies. Ability to exercise initiative, confidentiality, problem solving, and decision-making. Dependable, punctual and courteous; positive attitude; approachable; consummate team player.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
- 2-4 years exempt or non-exempt recruiting experience in full life-cycle environment.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience recruiting in financial/healthcare environment is a plus.
- Experience with various HR information systems.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
- Close and general vision required to process reports.
- Turning or twisting (in chair) to reach files and supplies.

- Carrying mail and files.
- Good eye-hand coordination to operate office equipment.
- Occasionally lifting boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Kneeling and bending.
- Boxes beyond 25 pounds should be lifted with the assistance of other staff.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Office-based. Work may be stressful at times.
- Required prolonged sitting, some bending.
- Perform repetitive, routine work.
- Must accept priorities as defined by others.
- Involves frequent contact with staff and visitors.
