For almost 30 years, our client has been developing cutting-edge scientific measurement hardware and testing methods used by leading laboratories and research facilities in over 90 countries. With 300+ employees having developed 120+ analytical procedures and a current portfolio of 20+ hardware products, this company is looking to expand the sales of their products more aggressively to new or previously underserved markets.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, our client needs to add a fourth Business Development Specialist to their sales team to cover the Mid-West – New England area. Based in the USA, the ideal candidate has significant, formal post-secondary education in chemistry, an excellent body of knowledge in analytical chemistry, and experience in sales, business development, and account management.
This is a road-warrior position for someone independent, persistent, well-organized, whip- smart and comfortable in Academia. The successful candidate will spend a significant portion of their time traveling, visiting potential clients in University science faculties, public and private analysis facilities, and various food, energy and chemical, and agricultural laboratories.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Form new business relationships and generate sales of company procedures and equipment.
- Attend conferences, events, and industry gatherings to represent the company.
- Plan/attend/deliver seminars, exhibitions, trade shows, workshops, training, and meetups.
- Keep apprised of the market. Help HQ understand customer and industry needs “on the ground” and keep an eye on competitors.
- Assist with the ongoing improvement and execution of company marketing strategy.
- Prepare and maintain product marketing materials.
- Set up and coordinate technical product presentations on-site for potential customers.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. with background in Analytical Chemistry or Biochemistry and related areas (or equivalent).
- Sales experience in pharma, instrumentation, equipment, chemicals, or a related field.
- Ideally, a network or significant industry contacts in academic and scientific communities.
- Complete command of the English language including technical scientific language.
- Must be available for up to 70% business travel and hold a valid driver's license.
