  • Responsibilities

    Providing non-clinical support to individuals in recovery from substance use or mental health challenges, drawing on their own lived experience to guide and empower others. They act as role models, mentors, and advocates, helping individuals develop recovery plans, connect with resources, and build supportive relationships.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide support and guidance during crises, helping individuals develop coping strategies and connect with appropriate crisis services
    • Collaborate with clinical staff and other treatment team members to support individuals' recovery plans
    • Encourage individuals to develop self-advocacy skills and make informed choices about their recovery
    • May lead or co-facilitate support groups and psychoeducational sessions


      Essential Skills and Qualifications:

    • Lived Experience: A personal history of recovery from substance use or mental health challenges is crucial
    • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build rapport, actively listen, and communicate effectively with individuals in recovery and other professionals
    • Empathy and Compassion: A non-judgmental and empathetic approach is essential
    • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to help individuals identify and overcome barriers to their recovery
    • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple clients, maintain records, and meet deadlines
    • Basic Understanding of Recovery Principles: Knowledge of recovery models, support systems, and resources
