    Summary/Objectives of Position

    The primary function of the PSS1 is connecting clients to resources, this includes providing necessary transportation services for client wellness. The PSS1 is the main contact for BAIHP Behavioral Health services in a transporter capacity. The PSS1 is responsible for arranging linkage to support services for clients in need of services. The PSS1 follows BAIHP policies, procedures, and HIPAA requirements. The PSS1 is responsible for supporting the team with identifying community programs and social services geared at reducing disparities among American Indian and Alaska Natives (AIAN). The PSS1 assists patients, helps maintain overall cleanliness of the clinic, and ensures office equipment is in working order. Strong customer service and computer skills are necessary for this role. The individual must communicate in a friendly and professional manner with clients, community partners, contractors, and staff. Under the direction of management, the PSS1 will assist in the design and implementation of youth programs for AIAN youth that are culturally appropriate and focus on a holistic model of wellness including physical, mental/emotional, social, and environmental wellness. The PSS1 will perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, participating in community events, collaborative meetings, and outreach activities.

    Essential Duties, Functions & Responsibilities

    • Reviews, corrects, and submits claims to payers. Applies developing/basic working knowledge and experience to the job.
    • Provides safe, timely, and accurate transportation services for clients, groups, and in-home services, as needed.
    • Documents client’s Electronic Health Records associated with client transport services.
    • Maintains updated and accurate vehicle inspection and mileage logbook records.
    • Ability to establish trusting relationships through compassion, empathy, and insight.
    • Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and perspectives of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
    • Collect Protected Health Information (PHI) and medical history.
    • Ensure that clients receive consistent and high-quality care.
    • Coordinate treatment plans and schedule appointments, as needed.
    • When there are no appointments, the PSS1 may assist the front desk with all client care tasks that directly impact the client experience.
    • Handle resolution/inquiries from clients and/or providers.
    • The PSS1 supports with connecting clients to safe and affordable housing, vocational and health benefits/public assistance, and connects clients to cultural and traditional support groups.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Mandatory Qualifications

    Education:

    • High School Diploma or GED Required.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a Behavioral Health office setting.
    • Knowledge of mental illnesses and the system of care through "lived experience" with a mental health condition, of a family member or personal.
    • Knowledge of Community resources available for food, shelter, emergency services, and programs.
    • Demonstrates the ability to type 45 words per minute.
    • Case Management experience preferred.

    License/Certification:

    • Valid CA driver’s license is required.

    Communication Skills:

    • Demonstrates proficiency in communication and writing skills.
    • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general and professional documents.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

    Interpersonal Skills:

    • Ability to foster teamwork; train and direct the work of team members and colleagues.
    • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work productively and make independent decisions.

    Technology:

    • Familiar with electronic healthcare records systems.
    • Proficiency with using computer-based applications (e.g. Microsoft Office) and clinical information management systems.
