    We are currently seeking candidates for a Part-time/PRN X-Ray Tech position in our Urgent Care located in Pell City. This position will work days, evenings, weekends and some holidays.

    SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: Radiologic Technologist are essential members of the Patient-Centered Medical Home team. A radiologic technologist works under the supervision of a radiologist. The radiology technologist is responsible for obtaining radiologic images, which are used by the physician to determine diagnosis for their patient. The information gained from these images will also be used to help with developing a treatment plan.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.

    Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.

    Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

    Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors. Providing a safe and clean environment for employees and patients, complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

    Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

    Change and maintain confidential medical files and records using the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system as necessary.

    Stocks supplies, samples and other items in accordance with office procedures and established inventory levels.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Radiology Technologist will have a two (2) year associate degree in Applied Science and be ARRT registered.

    Must be able to read and write legibly and follow written and verbal instructions.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    Physical stamina is important in this occupation as Radiology Technologist will be on their feet for long periods and may lift or turn disabled patients. Technologists work at diagnostic machines but also may perform some procedures at other locations. Although radiation hazards exist in this occupation, they are minimized by the use of lead aprons, gloves, and other shielding devices, and by instruments monitoring exposure to radiation. Technologists wear badges measuring radiation levels in the radiation area, and detailed records are kept on their cumulative lifetime dose.

    Radiologic Technologists should be sensitive to patients' physical and psychological needs. They must pay attention to detail, follow instructions, and work as part of a team. In addition, operating complicated equipment requires mechanical ability and manual dexterity.
