GENERAL SUMMARY  

Tutors are responsible for providing academic support to students taking classes at Front Range Community College.  A content-based tutor will work directly with the student to determine the student’s level of understanding of the material, answer questions, and supply additional detail to help students to be able to better understand the concepts taught in the classroom. Global and Learning Lab tutors are responsible for helping students with note-taking, time management, test-taking skills, etc. Tutoring is a part-time position; tutors are called upon as needed for their areas of expertise.  To see the current listing of tutors needed, please check our'Information for Prospective Tutors' link.

Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application package submitted by candidate.  Completed application package includes:

1. A LETTER OF INTEREST DETAILING EXPERIENCE AS RELATED TO THE POSITION;
2. AN EFORM APPLICATION;
3. A RESUME.

Most tutors work with assigned students on the academic content of classes. This includes the following:

• Contact assigned students to set up appointments.
• Communicate with the Tutor Coordinator when you and your students have agreed on times for sessions, and otherwise as needed.
• Complete Student Contracts with each student and submit them to the LOC.
• Meet with assigned students weekly, focusing on their needs.
• Complete bi-weekly Tutor Reports and electronic timesheets promptly.
• Attend in-service meetings as scheduled.

Global and Learning Lab tutors work with students on time management, various learning tools and strategies, self-advocacy, etc.

Position could begin as early as the end of May 2017 or as late as August 2017.

Required Skills

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Physics.

Required Experience

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 3 years teaching/tutoring or equivalent.
