    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The Assistant Regional Vice President plays an important role in supporting the Regional Vice President in overall leadership and direction for a Regional Office to deliver a full value commitment to financial professionals in the markets in which we operate, promote corporate initiatives, support consistent messaging, and drive sales to a profitable Independence Financial Network.  This position will cover our California Region.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Recruits, selects, and manages financial professionals who seek a direct relationship with Penn Mutual
    • Selects, manages, and leads a skilled staff in Regional Office
    • Trains and develops current Regional Marketing Directors/Regional Marketing Specialists
    • Negotiates and realizes production commitments from direct relationships with insurance based financial professionals
    • Supports the region and helps to lead a “virtual” organization while being consistent with overall IFN/Penn Mutual strategy
    • Supports and directs team to engage on Penn Mutual/IFN corporate initiatives
    • Develops and sustains consistent, lasting business relationships
    • Provides full Value Commitment to financial professionals in the affluent markets
    • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work to accomplish production objectives
    • Formulates and packages sales concepts in peak markets
    • Complies with all company and site policies and procedures
    • Remains current in profession and industry trends
    • Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Ability to manage and work remotely

    Required Skills

    SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Strong communicator (verbal, written, and platform) as well as a good listener
    • Personally can prepare illustrations and presentations using industry / PML software
    • Strong skills at point of sale
    • Understands large case underwriting and packaging
    • Utilizes Microsoft office software (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Understands and uses contact management / Agency Management System (AMS)
    • User of the Internet / company e-mail system
    • Ability to make a positive contribution as demonstrated by learning new skills and making suggestions for process/procedure improvement
    • Ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment

    Required Experience

    EXPERIENCE: 

    • Minimum 5 years successful sales experience with variable life and annuity products
    • A successful record of recruiting, selecting, and mentoring field leaders
    • Successful experience and expertise in needs-based sales in the business, estate, and affluent marketplace
    • Success in developing lead generation opportunities for the affluent markets
    • Former successes not based solely on product, underwriting, or producer compensation
    • Well-versed in the features / benefits of all life insurance products
    • Distribution experience with Broker/Dealers and Registered Reps
    • Knowledge about competitor’s products as well as Penn Mutual’s products
    • Compliance and Market Conduct sales supervisory experience

     

    EDUCATION/LICENSES/PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • CLU, ChFC, or CFP
    • FINRA Series 7 and Series 24
