    Job Description

     

    POSITION SUMMARY:  The Financial Aid Administrator provides financial aid support to any prospective and current students in the office of Financial Aid. This position is the central point of contact for students seeking eligibility information with respect to financial support.

    The Financial Aid Administrator reports directly to the Assistant Director of Financial and to the Executive Director of Financial Aid. The primary function and major areas of responsibility include the following:

    SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Ø  Meet with prospective students, prospective student’s parents and/or family and assisting currently enrolled students

    Ø  Answering telephone calls and messages

    Ø  Responding to emails

    Ø  Experience with CampusNexus Web Client is preferred – Will train right individual

    Ø  Determining student eligibility

    Ø  Collecting federal aid documents, such as verification, selective service, professional judgments, dependency overrides resolution of "C code"

    Ø  Knowledge of cost of attendance and needs analysis

    Ø  Administrating federal, institutional and private funds

    Ø  Re-Entering and packaging of withdrawn students

    Ø  Performing daily activities assigned internally

    Ø  Reviewing ISIRs carefully and contacting non-selected students to make corrections (as needed)

    Ø  Following up on private lenders, such as Sallie Mae for students’ progress with their loans

    Ø  Generating payment plans

    Ø  Checking NSLDS and COD for students federal aid loan history

    Ø  Reviewing current and pending files

    Ø  Responsible for Graduation of a file. Ensures all Title IV funding the student is eligible for has been posted to their account ledger, the funds are accurate, all dates corresponding with the student’s completion of their program match COD and confirm all program hours have been attended.

    Ø  Process Cancelled Files

    Ø  Keep well-informed with Federal regulations by attending in house trainings/seminars/workshops on-line as well as offsite

    Ø  REQUIRES TWO EVENINGS PER WEEK, 12-8:30PM AND 10:30AM- 7:00PM

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    Ø  Education and Experience: A.A. degree in business administration, accounting, or related field preferred, but willing to train right candidate with at least one year experience financial aid, or general knowledge of the financial aid process.

    Ø  Knowledge of state and federal regulations, policies, and compliance standards as it applies. Must have experience in awarding and distribution of aid for student financial need and eligibility.

    Ø  Must have organizational and general office skills, competent computer skills for data entry assignments using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Must have exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively guide and counsel students on the financial aid process. Must have good interpersonal skills to effectively deal with students, parents, faculty, and other outside agencies.

    Ø  Must have the ability to multi-task and work under stress. Must be able to follow written and verbal directions and must have strong ability for attention to detail.
