Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking an Attorney Recruiting & Development Assistant in our Attorney Recruiting & Development department reporting directly to the Attorney Recruiting & Development Manager.
The position will reside in Washington, DC office and will be responsible for providing day-to-day administrative support and assistance to the attorney recruiting department. The Attorney Recruiting & Development Assistant is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of applicant database (ViDesktop) for all student and lateral associate hiring activity.
- Process expense reimbursements and invoices for the department.
- Assist with maintaining document and email management system (NetDocuments) for all recruiting activities.
- Assist with preparation of materials and tracking attendance for attorney development programs and events as needed.
- Assist with recruiting, professional development/training, summer associate, diversity, and women’s initiative events as needed.
- Additional tasks and projects as needed.
_ ADDITIONAL SUMMER ASSOCIATE PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES_
- Assist Manager and Coordinator with coordination of the summer program (including training programs, orientation, events, etc.).
- Assist with assignment process, collecting evaluation forms and other tasks as needed.
- Help assemble mid-summer and end-of-summer evaluation packets for hiring committee.
- Attend summer associate events as appropriate.
- Respond to general questions from summer associates and attorneys about summer programs.
_ ADDITIONAL STUDENT RECRUITING RESPONSIBILITIES_
- Assist with registration for on-campus interviews and preparation of all related materials.
- Assist with the coordination of law school recruiting and sponsorship events.
- Greet recruits upon arrival and escort them to interviews.
- Prepare and distribute interview schedules.
- Compile weekly hiring committee materials.
- Collect interview evaluations and feedback.
- Prepare candidate interview materials and assist with correspondence regarding interview details.
QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with database applications (recruiting databases a plus)
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions
- Ability to communicate with attorneys and staff in an effective manner
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner
- Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities
- Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, office and firm management, vendors, and law school personnel
- Ability to work well under pressure, facilitate solutions, and meet deadlines and milestones for projects assigned
