Job Summary:
We are seeking a Pension Processor Clerk with strong telephone and communication skills to assist participants with their pension benefits in a Taft-Hartley multi-employer benefit fund. This role involves processing pension applications, answering participant inquiries, and ensuring compliance with pension plan rules and federal regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and able to provide clear and accurate information to retirees, beneficiaries, and union members.
Primary Responsibilities:
Answer phone calls and assist participants with questions regarding pension benefits, eligibility, and application status.
Process pension applications, retirement distributions, and benefit adjustments in compliance with plan guidelines.
Review submitted retirement documents, birth certificates, marriage licenses, and employment history to verify eligibility.
Maintain and update participant records in the system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Communicate with participants, beneficiaries, union representatives, and financial institutions to provide pension information.
Assist participants with direct deposit setup, tax withholding elections, and beneficiary updates.
Research and resolve pension payment discrepancies, missing contributions, and eligibility issues.
Prepare and mail pension statements, benefit determination letters, and plan documents to participants.
Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, and Department of Labor (DOL) pension regulations.
Support the appeals and benefit calculation process by gathering required documentation and preparing reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
1+ years of experience in pension administration, benefits processing, customer service, or clerical work.
Strong telephone etiquette and communication skills with the ability to explain pension benefits clearly.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and data entry systems.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle confidential participant information with professionalism and discretion.
Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
Experience working with Taft-Hartley multi-employer pension funds or union pension plans.
Knowledge of ERISA, IRS pension regulations, and retirement benefit calculations.
Bilingual in Spanish or Polish (preferred but not required).
Experience handling high call volumes in a customer service or pension administration setting
