    POSITION SUMMARY :

    We're currently in search of a skilled Academic Program Coordinator to ensure the seamless administration of PLC’s Masterclasses, brand Partners, and accreditation standards.

    This role requires a professional and organized individual who can handle critical outcomes, meet expectations, and proactively address issues.

    Your responsibilities will include project management and providing support to our dedicated design faculty.

    You will play a crucial role in advancing our college's objectives related to student career placement, internships, apprenticeships, and full-time job opportunities.

    ESSENTIAL TASKS : Employees must be able to perform the following essential functions to the satisfaction of the employee’s supervisor.

    Pre-Class:

    • Coordinate and manage academic programs, including monitoring program progress and ensuring objectives are met.
    • Maintain and update program curriculum and materials as needed.
    • Assist in the planning and execution of program events, such as orientations and information sessions.
    • Provide administrative support to program directors and faculty, including scheduling meetings and preparing materials.
    • Communicate with students and provide guidance on program requirements and academic policies, fostering a smooth outreach and submission process.
    • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure a seamless selection process.
    • Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for program improvement, enhancing the overall student journey.

    During Class:

    • Manage the growth, development, and promotion of Masterclasses, ensuring an enriching arrival experience for students.
    • Oversee all Masterclasses areas, including Professional Development, Design Thinking, Class Calendar, Curriculum Development, and Classroom Management, faculty timing, curriculum and syllabus alignment of each student's journey.
    • Engage local and regional brand partners and educational leaders to identify critical needs, develop new programs, and improve existing ones, enhancing the overall student journey.
    • Set up and teardown studios for masterclasses.
    • Facilitate brand engagement during masterclasses, managing the calendar with brand partners, and collecting brand tools for faculty and students, promoting an interactive phase.

    Collaborate on course offerings, faculty credentialing, and support, and assessment, contributing to an enhanced student journey.

    Post Class:

    • Provide oversight for the development, expansion, and administration of PLC’s Masterclasses.
    • Post-class follow up communications for all programs, internship placements at partnered brands, program teardown information/evaluations
    • Maintenance of student evaluations and support of after-class professional development
    • Coordinate the development, staffing, and facilities needs between brand partners, sister schools, and other higher education educational partners.
    • Serve as a secondary administrator in the leadership of local, regional, and State of Michigan initiatives.
    • Assist the Director of Education & Programs as directed and needed.
    • Occasionally travel to area high schools, colleges, and universities for meetings, conferences, and other related activities.

    Expertise and Qualifications:

    • Project management.
    • Exhibit leadership and communication skills, including the ability to respond to the needs of individuals with respect and sensitivity.
    • Demonstrate decision-making and analytical skills, with the ability to make administrative and procedural decisions.
    • Expertise in CRM (HubSpot) and Learning Management Systems.

    Student Housing Support:

    • Coordinate and oversee academic programs for on-site resident assistance at student housing.
    • Provide timely and effective support to residents, addressing academic inquiries and assisting with program-related concerns.
    • Collaborate with leasing authorities to ensure seamless communication and support for housing-related matters.
    • Implement and manage initiatives to enhance the academic experience of residents within the student housing community.

    The Academic Program Coordinator position requires on-site responsibility for 24-hour on-call support for student housing. As part of the compensation package, a negotiated stipend will be offered to offset housing rental costs, with direct payments made to the apartment leasing agency.

    Support and Flexibility: Providing assistance to the Director of Education & Programs and being adaptable to evolving needs is a crucial aspect of the role. Additionally, occasional travel to high schools, colleges, and universities is required for participation in meetings, conferences, and other activities related to the college's operations.

    Interpersonal Skills: Your ability to deal tactfully and sensitively with students, faculty, and staff, coupled with independent work capabilities, attention to details, and adherence to deadlines, contributes to a positive and efficient environment. You are expected to conduct college business with professionalism, ethics, and a commitment to the institution's core values.

    Effective Communication: The role necessitates effective, professional, tactful, and courteous communication with students, employees, faculty, and the general public. Ensuring that all activities align with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines is imperative.

    EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE: Utilize current College or department information technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google Suites, ASANA , Hub Spot , Learning Management Systems, Adobe Creative Suites

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: (The conditions herein represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.)

    ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions; some work is performed in the classroom, extended periods viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evenings or weekends.

    Occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel to high school visits.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a master's degree is preferred.
    • Proven experience in program management, preferably in an educational or higher education setting.
    • Familiarity with academic design centric program development and management.
    • Connection and involvement with HBCU institutions.
    • Supervisory skills, including the ability to lead and guide teams effectively.

    At PLC Detroit, we value diverse talents and offer competitive compensation packages. For this position, the annual base salary range falls within the Michigan state market for similar roles, estimated between $45,000 and $63,000 annually.
