    Political Department Internship Spring 2018 People For the American Way is a nationwide advocacy organization that mobilizes its members and activists to fight for public policies that reflect the values of freedom, fairness, and equal opportunity; to champion constitutional protections and civil rights. People For the American Way Foundation conducts research, legal, and education work on behalf of First Amendment freedoms and democratic values; monitors, exposes, and challenges the Religious Right movement and its political allies; and identifies, trains, and supports the next generation of progressive leaders. PFAWs Political Department focuses on political advocacy efforts and voter education. The Next Up Victory Fund program helps young progressives win state and local offices across the country The Political Departments Latinos Vote! Program builds on our proven record of producing paid and earned media campaigns to hold Republicans accountable for their anti-immigrant, anti-Latino policies and rhetoric. The Political Intern will primarily support these programs. Activities * Conduct research on elections and candidates * Create and manage Excel documents * Take meeting minutes and distribute follow up items * Draft outreach materials * Provide administrative support Qualifications * Computer proficiency including experience using online research tools and MS Office * Excellent organizational, communication and writing skills * Great attention to detail * A commitment to People For issues * Spanish language skills a plus We offer a paid Internship Program and that pays District of Columbia minimum wage.
